The Moon feels at home in the ever moving river of Cancer, ebbing and flowing with the twists and turns and coming out the other side into Leo with a refreshing force of energy dispersed directly into the Sun. Like the spray of a waterfall revealing a rainbow that quickly disappears from our eyes. Where Cancer is a river, Scorpio is still and without a wave. Scorpio is the water in the bottom of a deep well that we toss a coin into to make a wish. Scorpio is the water so far down in the well, you can only see the slightest reflection of the Sun from an all-too-specific angle when peering into it's depths. When we think of the Moon freely floating through Cancer, we can see the stark difference in movement against throwing the Moon into a deep well: the Moon’s cramped and waiting for the local fire department to come rescue it. Scorpio digs deep, it gets specific, it gets defensive, and currently the sign is being ruled by a rowdy Mars in Cancer that will soon station retrograde in less than a week. Mars has a hard time in Cancer because it has a hard time maintaining it's footing when the ground is always moving. Imagine trying to participate in a sword fight, but each participant is on their own raft in a winding river with plenty of obstacles in the way. Do you use your sword as a weapon or an oar?
This New Moon in Scorpio is taking place in the third house of the Libra Ingress chart, and is within 11 degrees of a transiting retrograde Mercury in the same sign. This trifecta of planets is opposite retrograde Jupiter in Taurus, really grinding into our lives the need to take a look at how we are managing... well, basically everything. With this dynamic it's easy to feel like everything we are doing isn't quite right, or somehow off. Maybe our plans are suddenly crumbling, or there is a new project we have been working on but it's not melding together properly when we put the pieces together. There's a "grass is always greener on the other side" dynamic as well. With the planets in Scorpio and Taurus being Square an Aquarius Saturn, cold truths are being revealed and Saturn is culling out the dreams or ideas that wont suit us in the future. There's a theme of letting go in order to craft better and more comfortable lives for ourselves.
The letting go is never easy. Saturn is four signs from the Moon signifying a depressed mood, and with the Moon being empty it's easy to assume we will be feeling Saturn's chill in our bodies and minds. With the Sun and Moon in Scorpio with Rahu 5 signs away and Mars ninth, there’s a feeling of overstepping boundaries because of stress or emotional outbursts. The Sun and Moon in the fixed sign of Scorpio, trine the ever expansive rahu in Pisces shows us what we desire but seem to be blocked from. There’s a chance of doing too much here, especially with Rahu being 11 signs from Jupiter signifying gains of all kinds. Jupiter is ruling Rahu and while retrograde is likely negating a lot of the attempts we make to mend or improve areas of our lives. Jupiter will keep helping us remember our failed ideas, and Saturn will make us feel the shame of failure being 10 signs from Jupiter.
Midpoint Analysis
Midpoints to the Sun and Moon are pointing to fortunate happenings by picking up the first, fifth, and ninth houses. The only midpoints picked up by the Sun and Moon during this New Moon were from the Libra Ingress chart and include a mix of the Sun, Lot of Fortune and Spirit, Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto. The midpoints are signifying sudden changes in the environment, and that being in the right place at the right time brings a lucky and surprising event. Something that will be a highlight between here and the Full Moon. There are themes of recognition, unexpected fortune, and sudden shifts in the mood for the better if even for shorter bursts of time. These themes all get carried back into that third house of the chart, putting an emphasis on community, friends, siblings, communication skills, and short travels. Possibly a friend may drag you somewhere you aren’t particularly enthused to be at, but something beautiful seems to happen at that location. If there's an opportunity to see something new, try something new, or hang out with a new crowd, you should do it! You never know when life has little surprises for you to help get through the muck.
Looking to the ruler of Scorpio, Mars is doing a lot. There are strong significations of needing to work on a project or task with someone. It seems like we will be working with people in our lives but not actively communicating the frustrations we feel along the way. There will be mistakes, stalling, and unforeseen blockages to our progress on this task or errand we must complete with someone. It looks like all of this sudden teamwork and being amongst people working towards the same goal, is spawned from news of trouble or needing to finally get something done. It's either a surprise or something that's been procrastinated or forgotten for far too long. Something that feels urgent and with a timeline that must be met. It's likely this could be a kick-off to your Mars Retrograde themes so keep note of the dynamics happening over the next week within themes of friends, work, siblings, and plans.
Amongst the teamwork of Mars' midpoints, there's also an underlying theme of enemies. Within our lives we may slowly notice a theme of harsh communication disguised as joking around, or be told we are taking something too seriously. There's a feeling of me vs them and the pull they can have on our lives by saying a few harsh words that mask their deeper feelings of distress. There's a guarded feeling here, and we will be seeing some peoples true feelings or intentions with us through what they say disguised as a joke. The words will cut deep but reveal the truth when we sit back and marinade in everything that was said and sort out what seems to be based in truth.
The midpoints to the Nodes bring in themes of misunderstandings with both Mercury and Jupiter retrograde and opposing each other in addition to the New Moon. We will be over protective of our relationships and home space and wary of letting people in that we don't trust. We will be seeing other people’s lucky days and wonder why we can't be so lucky, but then stumble into a little luck of our own along the way. We will be around people a lot more in general in the coming weeks, and lucky for us it will bring us a good idea from an outside source. We may get a random piece of advice from a stranger than brings in some beneficial change for us. With this large increase of being around people it's natural we will see some isolation mixed in as well. The Sun and South Node from the Libra Ingress form a midpoint to the current Nodal Axis, amplifying the feeling of having the life and energy sucked out of you. Interacting with people, outside of necessity, wont be high on our to do list and it's likely we find ways to rest our bodies and minds in the same ways zombies do: by scrolling social media, getting lost on TikTok, having an all-encompassing gaming session, binging a YouTube cooking channel, zoning out to holiday films on Netflix, or even getting too stoned on some of those new edibles you've been wanting to try.
This theme of isolation and disconnecting is echoed through the midpoints to Mercury. We are going to be more in our heads for the next couple of weeks. It looks like our brains will be buzzing and processing an onslaught of information and worries, we will be easily distracted by anything with an ounce of pleasure, and we will be easily overstimulated by anything that is slightly disruptive to our process. There is a gift in being able to take a couple minutes out of the day to try to quiet the mind and meditate for a few moments. Even the slightest break will feel like bathing our brains in the fresh spring rain. There's a lot on our minds at this time, and in addition to this it looks like a lot of us have a focus on career and achievements or lack there-of. There will be disappointments with our current work, a disappointment in the pay we receive, or a possible yearning for a promotion or change of scenery entirely. Maybe there is even an impatience for that Christmas bonus check to come in so Cousin Eddy doesn't do anything drastic like he did that year your bonus from work was a jelly club subscription.
We will be prone to overstimulation, have an inability to focus, and we will be pondering our sorrows while hoping for fortune. It'll be easy to let our emotions get away from us and react to situations in a sporadic and negative way since our minds will be so pre-occupied and busy. It'll be important to try to keep a hold on emotions in interactions because there are themes of not believing everything you hear. The midpoint of Mercury and Saturn from the twelfth and sixth houses of the Libra Ingress chart are being picked up by Mercury. This is a point for the current Ingress that is highlighted and playing out through Mercury's retrograde story. While these midpoints point to a moment of pondering and consideration, the house placements can also imply that hidden enemies may make themselves visible through the third house Mercury of the New Moon chart. Within this same midpoint tree, Mercury is picking up the midpoint of Moon and Mars from the Ingress chart, weaving in anger and leading to pondering the ways you've been hurt in the past, and the regret you may place on yourself because of this.
Wrapping up the handful midpoints I looked into, we have Saturn and her sorrows. There is a feeling of sorrow and happy moments may seem to fade quicker than usual. There may be misunderstandings that upset us, or fights that push us to distance ourselves from someone we held respect for. Our bodies will feel sluggish and worn out, and all we will want to do is wallow in it all when we have the time to in our busy schedules. Uranus and the IC form a midpoint to Saturn and show benefit in clearing things out of our life that we no longer need. This could be cleaning out a closet or pantry and rooted on the physical level. Or it could even be something less physical like cleaning out activities or relationships that no longer benefit our lives, but instead suck away all of our energy and joy. With the Midheaven and Venus of the Libra Ingress chart being picked up by transiting Saturn, I believe Saturn has a gift on it's way. Saturn has very bad shipping times, but there is something to be gained through rotting in bed and waiting for Saturn to move out of the way (if it ever truly does, but we can hope!)
This New Moon is a little chaotic, but also brings us into a mental space where we can pick through every moment, every possibility for our future, and every relationship to find out what's true to us and what's hindering our path to a more balanced life. The Moon will slowly begin it’s trek back to Taurus where we will experience her Full Moon in the sign of her exaltation in two weeks. When the Moon is in Taurus, she will be conjoined the Retrograde Jupiter, who is still opposite the Sun and Mercury, but will finally be trine Venus. Venus will be in Capricorn, seen by the Taurus Jupiter again after their aversion during Venus’ transit through Sagittarius. Jupiter has felt a little disconnected, being retrograde and averse it’s ruler, and seeing Venus again may finally begin to bring some forward motion, inspiration, and motivation for new plans and projects that usher in a stronger foundation of understanding and fulfilled needs to our daily relationships and lives.
