Midpoints of the Trump Rally Shooting
When reading charts with midpoints, there are 6 main 'personal points' to look through that give a wealth of information about the person/event and those they interact with. These main points are:
Vernal Point (VP): general earth horoscope
Midheaven (MC): the 'soul' of the native, the 'I', intellect, or in the case of an event chart, 'the minute', or 'the moment.'
The Ascendant(AS or DS): acquaintances, connections within the surroundings, the place. (the descendant, or DS, is used interchangeably as the ascendant on the 360 degree dial)
The Sun: the body, physical being.
The Moon: changeable things, emotions, people and the public.
The Nodes: unions, connections, communication, limits, boundaries, border relations.
- The north node will be referred to as NN, while south node will be referred to as SN
These are the 6 main midpoints I read for all timing and revolution charts to help give more specific information of events. I normally combine these with triplicity lord significations, Dasa periods, firdaria periods, and deriving houses along with divisional charts. Today we will stick with the main personal points, with a tiny mix of triplicity lords mixed in towards the end to show how they both change and stack with the general midpoint significations.
With midpoints, I always begin by finding the significations that Alfred Witte defines in his book “Rules for Planetary Pictures”, then I add in another layer with additional significations of each planet. I use a mix of the western triplicity significations along with the Vedic/Jyotish significations for planets and houses while reading my charts in the Krishnamurti Sidereal Zodiac. Usually with midpoints, you would read the Aries Point of the tropical zodiac instead of the Vernal Point of the Sidereal zodiac. The Vernal Point is the Aries point charted on to the sidereal zodiac, so as the two zodiacs shift from each other, the Vernal Point moves backwards in the sidereal zodiac. This shifting brings an interesting theme in for reading transits and revolutions to the natal in the sidereal zodiac, because it will pick up new midpoints from the natal throughout the life of the native, whereas a fixed Aries Point in the tropical zodiac would fail to show this and always pick up the same midpoints from the native’s natal chart.
Vernal Point Analysis
Vernal Point (VP): general earth horoscope
To read midpoints to the Vernal point, first i make a tri-wheel in Solar Fire with the natal chart in the inner wheel, solar revolution in the middle wheel, and the transit itself in the outer wheel. I find the Vernal Point on the outer wheel and place the pointer there, then read the midpoints that show up in the “midpoint tree” in the center of the dial. Next i read each of the midpoint trees to that point on the outer wheel for the middle and inner wheel. This can be done easily in Solar Fire by hovering just above the midpoint tree on the dial and selecting which chart you want to view the midpoint tree for, it will keep the pointer in the same spot so you can see every pair of planets that makes a midpoint to the degree of the transiting Vernal point. I then go through and find out which houses these midpoints pick up from each chart by their sign.
So for the transit Vernal Point (VP) chart, Uranus is in Taurus and Pluto is in Capricorn, and these two planets form a midpoint to the Vernal Point. I then find what houses both Taurus and Capricorn fall into for the solar revolution and natal charts. Uranus falls in the 7H and Pluto falls in the 3H, making a midpoint to the Vernal point in the 5H of the transit chart. These midpoints pick up the 10H and 6H of Taurus and Capricorn in the solar revolution and natal charts, and the 8H of Pisces in the solar revolution and natal charts. This means the transit's 7H and 3H energy will also be pulling 10H, 8H, and 6H topics.
Uranus/Pluto falling on the Vernal Point can show sudden changes in conditions which one must adapt to. The Vernal Point is placed in the 5H in the transit chart, picking up the 7H and 3H themes from the Uranus and Pluto forming the midpoint to the VP. So the place where Trump was for this event had these topics involved in it: connections, long journeys, business, overt enemies, attainment of status, travel, the right ear (3H Vedic), communication skills, and the authority, speculation, and judgement of the 5H (Vedic). Something I find interesting is Pluto in the 3H and the right ear, which is the ear that got hit in the shooting. The rest of the house topics can be seen as the rally itself. The 8H and 6H come in with the shooter (enemy), and also injuries, accidents, suddenness, unexpectedness, and the killing of a living being (someone in the crowd was killed.) So the rally being prone to sudden changes and conditions which one must adapt to (VP=Uranus/Pluto), due to an enemy and leading to an injury. The next midpoints which we can expect to be related to the rally are VP=Saturn/NN bringing together the 5H as well as 4H, 7H, and 8H, and the midpoint VP= Neptune/VP. Neptune and the Vernal Point are currently conjunct, meaning this combined energy will be seen throughout all of the Vernal Point midpoint trees. In other words, all of the midpoints currently being made to the Vernal Point are also making a midpoint to Neptune.
VP=Saturn/NN = to take leave (4H/5H and 7H/8H)
VP= VP/Neptune = chaos, uncertainties, confusion, and deceptions. (5H and 8H)
We can see that these midpoints signify the chaos and confusion of the situation, but also Trump taking leave from the event. Moving on to the inner wheel, or what the transiting vernal point is picking up from the solar revolution. We have:
VP=Mars/Descendant(DS): to participate in fighting (6H/4H, 9H/7H)
VP=Saturn/North Node: general separations (4H/5H , 7H/8H)
Neptune/VP: chaos etc. (5H and 8H)
The most compelling midpoint here is VP=Mars/DS, this can quite literally be the shooter hidden, then coming to light as an open enemy (7H) leading to general separations (VP= Saturn/NN) when trump is taken away from public.
In the natal wheel, VP is picking up:
VP= Mercury/SN: can mean news, or exchange of ideas (8H/1H, 11H/4H)
VP= Mercury/Moon: young people/person, communications in the public, the thinking nation (8H/1H, 11H/4H)
We can see here the themes of his natal chart that were brought to light during this transit. Showing him making 'breaking news' and being discussed amongst the populace, and also the involvement of a young person. I believe the shooter's age was around 20 yo which is quite young for the duration of a human lifespan. So bringing in the house themes we can see that this is a moment that involves a lot of recognition(11H), special status (11H), within his homeland (4H). The 4H in Vedic also has the significance of victory or defeat, and in this case he was spared death which would be considered a victory in his natal chart. The first house being connected with the 8H brings about the danger to Trump, with the 11H and 4H being connected brings gains and luck in support.
Midheaven Analysis

Starting with the transit chart, the Midheaven (MC) at the time of the shooting was in the 11H and picking up these midpoints:
MC= Jupiter/Pluto: fortunate outcome to unfortunate events (7H/3H, 10H/6H)
MC= Neptune/NN: to be deceived by one's own connections (5H and 8H)
MC = VP/NN: personal contact with many people (5H and 8H)
From the solar revolution chart:
MC= Moon/SN: sympathy from the public (11H and 2H)
MC= Neptune/NN: to be deceived by one's own connections (5H and 8H)
MC= VP/NN: personal contact with many people (5H and 8H)
From the Natal chart
MC= Uranus/Vertex: a significant sudden event in one's life. (7H/2H and 10H/5H)
Reading through the midpoints and the houses they bring together, we can see more of the story. MC=Neptune/North Node, to be deceived by one's own connections, with the 5H connection with the 8H bringing together secrets, obstacles, killing a living being, death, or even sudden unexpected gains at this event. Deception of connections resulting in these topics, at the time of writing this there have been videos depicting people trying to warn about the shooter on the roof yet nothing was done. Neptune topics blended with the connections brought with the node seems fitting for this scenario. The other two points here bring in the crowds around Trump, and also the fact that news of this event spread quickly around the world. In his solar revolution chart we have sympathy from public, bringing together the 11H and 2H, leading me to believe he will be receiving more funding after this event. The repeating Neptune/NN and VP/NN are seen here as an increased significance that this was a big event for his current solar revolution. The Midheaven of the transit brought up Uranus/Vertex from his natal chart signifying a significant sudden event. With the 7H/2H and 10H/5H involved, I'm expecting he will get a lot of coverage over this and sadly more support from the public.
Ascendant Analysis
The Ascendant(As): acquaintances, connections within the surroundings, the place.
The only midpoints made to the ascendant during the shooting was the lot of fortune and lot of spirit. The lot of fortune and lot of spirit always make a midpoint to the ascendant, but i still use them in the terms of unavoidable things related to fate, and then read the houses. This midpoint picks up the 10H/4H house and 1H/7H with the Ascendant bringing it all into the first house. This brings in the themes of unavoidable fate having to do with contracts, visibility, career, victory/defeat, and favors from the ruler. Moving on to the solar revolution, the Ascendant of the shooting picks up:
As= Jupiter/Mercury: entertainment and conversation (7H and 10H)
As= Jupiter/Sun: extroverted and social disposition, one who is lucky with other people(7H and 10H)
As= Jupiter/Venus: pleasantness and success through others. to be admired. (7H and 10H)
The ascendant falls in the 4th house of the natal chart. From these midpoints forming and connecting the 4th/7th/10th houses, we can see 'luck' was on his side this day, considering his close brush with death. In addition, we can see the added support he will receive from those around him, especially those who witnessed the event. In the Natal chart, the ascendant of the event picked up
As= Mars/VP: the acts of other people. violence of others (10th/5th and 1st/8th houses)
As= As/VP: acquaintances and place. meetings, places and locations. (10th/5th and 1st/8th houses)
Here we can see Mars is the shooter again, bringing together the 1st and 8th houses in both the solar revolution and natal chart. Trumps natal first house Mars activated along side the 8th house vernal point signifying the sudden obstacle or brush with death. Here in the midpoints, with the connection to the ascendant we can see it will be the act of someone other than him, and in this case the shooter. The AS/VP shows the masses of people in the location of the event, but also the fact it was broadcast and reached a large audience.
Sun Analysis
The Sun: the body, physical being.
The Sun of the event chart picks up these midpoints from the transit, solar revolution, and natal:
Transit chart:
Sun= Uranus/Lot Of Spirit(LOS): (7H/10H, and 10H/1H)
Solar revolution:
Sun= Mars/SN: bodily connections, connections through activities. physically present with connections. (6H/11H, and 9H/2H)
Natal:
Sun= Uranus/Mars: sudden injury to the body. (7H/10H, and 10H/1H)
Looking at these midpoints, the one from the solar revolution seems quite obviously the shooter and Trump. The Sun was in the 8tH of the event chart, but picked midpoints up through the 11H of the solar revolution and natal. Trump’s Ascendant is ruled by the Sun, the Ascendant of the solar revolution is located on his natal 1H Mars. With the Sun=Mars/SN picking up the 9H and 2H in the solar revolution and natal chart, it seems that his supporters will see him surviving as an almost religious spiritual event. In the event chart, this same midpoint picks up the 6H and 11H which shows the hidden enemy, but surviving the shooting itself.
With the Lot of Spirit connection with Uranus bringing up the 7H and 10H in the transit midpoint tree, but 10H and 1H in the solar revolution, we can see that this sudden event from a now known enemy will increase Trumps visibility and profession, and his supporters will give him praise. He will undoubtedly use this to his advantage during the election season, bringing in the Lot of Spirit and his free-will or desire in connection with uncontrollable and fated circumstances.
Moon Analysis
The Moon: changeable things, emotions, people and the public.
Moon pulls up these midpoints:
Transit:
Moon= Mars/Saturn: death of people of public interest. the hour of death (7H/4H and 10H/7H)
Moon= Uranus/Lot of Fortune(LOF): (7H/4H and 10H/7H)
Moon= Uranus/Saturn: sudden separation from the public. (7H/4H and 10H/7H)
Solar Revolution:
Moon = LOS/Saturn: (6H/4H and 9H/7H)
Moon= Uranus/Saturn: sudden separation from the public. (7H/4H and 10H/7H)
Natal:
no midpoints were made from the natal chart to the transiting moon.
In the transit chart we can see both the shooter and his victim in the crowd in the hour of death midpoint (Moon=Mars/Saturn.) Moon was the midpoint of both Uranus and LOF. Interestingly, the LOF was in the 4H in Aquarius conjunct Saturn, with Uranus conjunct Mars in Taurus, while Venus in Cancer was being ruled by the Moon which activated this midpoint. With Saturn also being in a midpoint with Mars, this midpoint is also activated at the same time, adding extra testimony to Trump needing to suddenly separate from the event due to a death.
Moving down to the solar revolution we see the extra testimony for sudden separation, we also see the LOS/Saturn which I believe is another extra layer signifying he would safely make it away from the sudden death event. The midpoints of LOS/Saturn are interesting because LOS is in Aries, ruled by Mars in Aries in the 9H. Earlier, I mentioned Trump has a natal 1H Leo Mars. It'll be interesting to see how his fan base treats this event, it will likely be religious in nature.
The Nodes Analysis
The Nodes: unions, connections, communication, limits, boundaries, border relations.
The transiting nodes were picking up these midpoints in each chart:
Transit:
Nodes= Venus/As pleasant and harmonious relations (9H/1H and 12H/4H)
Solar Revolution:
Nodes= LOS/DS other's reactions affecting oneself (6H/4H and 9H/7H)
Nodes= Uranus/DS sudden acquaintances (7H/4H and 10H/7H)
Natal:
Nodes= Sun/Vertex(VX) fated physical 'stuff' (7H/2H and 10H/5H)
Nodes= Saturn/Moon connection with old, sick, or unfortunate people. Separation from public/connections that affect the native for a long time. Connections which dominate in the evening hours. (9H/1H and 12H/4H)
Nodes= Venus/SN pleasant connections (9H/1H and 12H/4H)
Nodes= Venus/Moon union with supportive people. (9H/1H and 12H/4H)
The first thing i found interesting, Venus is Trumps first triplicity lord of the 6th house indicating Venus is a planet that represents physical injuries in his life. After doing the midpoints definitions by-the-book as above, I add in triplicity lord significations if I need or want to narrow things down. I'm staying mainly to-the-book for this post so it's not too confusing for those not familiar with midpoints.
So taking this information, Venus/AS on the Nodes can show physical injury due to others in Trump's Natal chart. When we add this to the mix, this midpoint can represent the support he gets from this injury. Venus is currently transiting his 12H, the house of hospitalization, punishment, misfortune, and secret enemies, but it's also his Venus return adding extra 12H strength with Venus. Taking this into consideration with the transit's 9H and 1H significations, we can see the support he is likely to get from this event, and with the 12H and 4H signification we can see that he will likely get new supporters, but increased attention from his current base.
For the solar revolution midpoints we have Lot of Spirit and Uranus combined with the Descendant. We have the energy of reacting to others suddenly, or reacting to the fated circumstances. This is connected to the previous points by the Moon, so we can see something sudden from the actions of someone else (6H/4H for LOS/DS and 7H/4H for Uranus/DS), Uranus being ruled by Venus shows extra significance for Venus and injury. With the 10H and 7H involvement we can also see the sudden support he will receive from others.
The midpoints from natal add extra testimony to most of everything we went over. Connections with support, enemies, injury, and separations. Nodes= Venus/SN is interesting to me, meaning this is a significant event of his Nodal square. It's likely this injury will give him added momentum in his year with the transiting South Node being in the natal 2H and the transiting North Node being in the natal 8H. The South Node in the 2H is worrying considering the South Node’s negative effect on his speech, mental steadiness, and truthfulness of the second house. We can assume the South Node will represent him using the knowledge of self, hunger for money, his new injury, and his need for fortune to affect his speech and truthfulness (Vedic Ketu significations combined with second house significations.) While the 8H North Node possibly bringing unearned wealth from the lies of the 2H. It seems like, as always, he will do or say anything to bring more support, and likely use this event as a big part of the rest of his campaign.
Conclusion
Midpoints can be simple, or you can dive deep and complex as I have shown. as you can see, we can get so much more information about how transits manifest in the native’s life, which can be useful when looking at granular or specific things in a chart. Alfred Witte made a huge contribution to the understanding of midpoints and the pictures they paint, but I wanted to make it more cohesive and useful for timing and transits. I have shifted away from a lot of the typical Uranian techniques, such as using the 360 degree dial instead of the 90 degree dial and not using Trans-Neptunian planets (although I find them to be accurate, Witte was on to something there.) I generally stick to reading the midpoints to only the personal points, since they give enough information, but I also read midpoints to all traditional planets up to Saturn if I’m looking at a specific planet’s transit, or want more information on how that planet will play out in another midpoint tree of the chart. Though I do mainly stick to the 360 degree dial for revolution midpoints, I also read the 40 degree dial in more intense delineations, as it puts the planets in the same configuration they would be in in the D9 (Navamsa chart.) With all of the information we have for each personal point from the midpoints analysis, we can also go further and read the aspects of those points to different planets to get an even deeper understanding of their interactions. It’s my hope that I was able to inspire some understanding and interest in midpoints, and how they can be an incredibly accurate, although advanced, technique to use while reading transits and revolutions.
