Midpoints for October 24th
a little forecast on fate and fortune
The first thing I noticed when opening the sunrise chart for the United States today was the conjunction of the Lot of Fortune and Moon, and the conjunction of Lot of Spirit and Pluto. The Lot of Fortune and Lot of Spirit will always make a midpoint to the Ascendant of a chart, and when we are doing sunrise charts this can show a big focus of the current day. These points change frequently because they are the distance between the Sun and the Moon in degrees projected for the Ascendant. So every tick of the Ascendant, and every movement of the Moon and Sun constantly pushes these points around the zodiac. With the Ascendant representing our surroundings by definition of midpoints it shows that fate and fortune and the actions we take are always around us, we can’t escape fate as it is always within our realm of focus in life.
So today I wanted to focus on the Sun/Ascendant, Moon/Lot of Fortune, and Pluto/Lot of Spirit midpoints. We are slowly heading into a New Moon which happens to land, by degree, on the Libra Mercury of the Mars Ingress into cancer within the Nakshatra Svati which has a tendency to represent manners, fearlessness, open-heartedness, and kindheartedness, and compassion. This New Moon will also be ruled by Venus in Scorpio who’s ruler Mars just had a conjunction to the Moon in Cancer yesterday trine Venus. It’s likely that the effects of today will ripple and see new beginnings by the New Moon in Libra on the first. So what do todays midpoints and astrology have in store for us? Let’s check the charts!
So right off the bat we have the Moon/Mars/Lot of Fortune in the 10H opposite Pluto in the 4H, Venus is trine the Moon and Mars and sextile Pluto. Venus is also squaring Saturn in the 5H, while opposite Jupiter. So right now we have a lot of energy of diving deep into our emotions, wants, needs and what nurtures our soul and the effect this has on the world around us, within us, and within relationships. Do our needs match those we form relationships and if not how can we reach middle ground? Creative solutions will come to us, and by the New Moon I expect we will have felt out these dynamics enough to make a decision on a way to head with compassion and understanding. It’s also nice to note that the Full Moon that is approaching will be within three degrees of the fixed star Alphecca. Alphecca has a way of helping us honor our decisions and find people who support these new ideas, breaking us away from toxicity of those who try to administer authority over us. Alphecca can bring that breath of fresh air into our lives, particularly the crisp fall air that invigorates our soul with new ideas and hope.
The midpoints made to the Moon suggest almost a breaking point in a way. Bringing in Pluto and the IC I see this almost as a house cleaning in both the literal and symbolic sense. We have reached the breaking point in certain areas of our life, and feel the inherent urge to clear out what isn’t working anymore and make new plans around these changes. A good way to see how this will play out in your chart is check what houses both Moon and Pluto are currently transiting (this works in both tropical and sidereal so use whichever you are comfortable with). While Venus/Neptune is bringing in obstructions, it also allows room for play, creativity, and fantasizing. Instead of getting lost in our fantasies of what may be out of reach at the moment, it might be better and more productive to use this energy in a creative or playful manner. Finding creative solutions to pressing problems that seem to be at a critical mass in your life may come to you while your focus is on something playful or interesting. Our minds have a way of revealing solutions to stressful situations while we are letting them have a little break from those same things and doing something creative and stimulating.
This house cleaning energy also points to re-organization in the home, either finally getting to a house project or just cleaning in general. Especially with Pluto being ruled by a Saturn sign and one of Saturn’s significations being dirt and filth. We are clearing out the old and making room for the new.
To get a better understanding of the nature of Pluto within Capricorn and it’s aspects today we can read the midpoints to it. Pluto is bringing us sudden connections through Uranus in Taurus in the 8H and Ketu in Virgo in the 12H. This connection will be a focus on others, and since it’s an outer planet likely not a physical connection. It’s likely some news may reach you that brings a change of view, and reveals some hidden part of ourselves that we didn’t realize before. With Ketu being in Virgo it’s likely we may have a moment where we realized we wern’’t focused on the right things, and have trying to avoid these things because dealing with them seems out of reach. This will be a moment that brings both clarity and likely a stronger feeling of wanting to avoid this situation all together. Although when we bring in the rest of the midpoints it shows our inherent urge to establish changes in both our private and public lives to start working on these behaviors of trying to escape from things that we can’t get away from. This is a critical moment for us, and between now and the New Moon I expect we will be playing around with these ideas and concepts in our head to focus on while the Moon begins to wax again and break away from the Sun.
Bringing in the midpoints to the Sun/Ascendant in brings in our relation to the world around us, our immediate environment that we interact with on a base level. These midpoints bring in feelings of disorder and a bit of chaos with hurdles to overcome. Throughout this chaos and changing of plans, I see that we will find answers to questions brought up by the Moon/Mars conjunction as well as the midpoints picked up by both the Moon and Pluto. The focus of the day seems to bring us to the dynamics and balance of work and family life, creative and familial pursuits, private and public life, and also how we survive under people who seem to have an inherent authority over us. While exploring these dynamics within our relationships and pursuits, it’s likely we will be presented with solutions and directions to move in which will begin to narrow down to something compromising but beneficial during the New Moon. Don’t focus too hard on finding immediate answers to these critical moments within these dynamics, as we know the answers will reveal themselves in their own time. Options and decisions are a large focus of our souls right now, what do we really desire to both receive and provide to others in life and what do we desire to let fizzle away?
