I had been putting off the delineation of the Cancer Ingress chart for a while, because at first glance it seemed obviously like the continuation of things we have all been witnessing with a few changes compared to the Aries Ingress. Both ingress charts have the same ascendant, but since the time of the Aries Ingress both Jupiter and the Nodes (both slower transiting planets) have changed signs, and therefore houses, along with the quicker planets which transit signs at a faster rate. I had been wanting to take a trip, a little vacation from life, for a while and the boyfriend and I decided this week would be a great week to go up to my family’s cabin. The family cabin is a small little cabin in the woods along a river, far away from the hustle and bustle of life, and a place where we could get some fresh air and time in the wilderness.
Cancer, in Indian Astrology, finds its home in rivers. The ever flowing, ever changing water that houses life and carries water to seas and lakes. I spent some time just watching the river over the past few days and soaking it all in. I found myself looking up river quite often, and realized this may be because I focus on the past or what was. Looking up river, I’d miss what was flowing directly in front of me, or what the conditions looked like down-river. Sitting on the side of a river is like sitting by the river of life itself. Up river is the past that flows to the point of now, which is where we are sitting, and down river is the future and where we are headed. When sitting on the river you can see all of these directions without getting swept away by it. It’s a different experience than being -in- the river, where you are navigating along the water avoiding obstacles and paddling to go around the ebbs and turns, and where going up-stream is a lot more difficult that going down stream with the flow of the water.
Most of us never paddle back up that river, or take a look at the past, because it’s hard at first. It’s hard to see how we had to navigate different situations, how things have negatively impacted our lives, and how little control we have over the general flow of things. It’s hard to see what things have changed and will never come back. Cancer being a river makes sense. The Moon rules the sign of Cancer, while Jupiter is its exaltation lord, both planets connected with life, family, memories, knowledge, and people. Rivers connect us to the larger Pisces-ruled bodies of water, Pisces being ruled by Jupiter, creating a web of watery energy that connects and flows throughout life. The memories of our lives, families, and ancestors constantly flowing to the final sign of the zodiac Pisces, a line we can trace through meditation and conversation but never fully see as it once was. Cancer is ever changing, flowing through the points of least resistance, while also creating points of least resistance by consistently eroding away the sturdy earth and structures that keep it on its path. The river I knew at the cabin as a child isn’t the same river that is there today. The sand bank I used to play on with my siblings and cousins is under water, and the little island that cuts the river in two in front of the cabin, is grown over with trees and plants. I can tell people what the sand bank was like when I was a kid, but they will only see where it once was and never how it was when I experienced it.
My grandpa was born on a summer solstice in 1938, and the cabin is different without him around. He was a caring and amazing man, I have so many fond memories of him there, and I thought it was fitting I randomly decided to go up to the cabin and ponder over the days of his would-be Solar Return. My dad arrived at the cabin the day after we did, and it was nice eating the "famous” family swab sauce chicken, having smores, and sitting by the river together over this summer solstice. Cancer is in the place of the fourth natural house in Indian astrology, signifying family. Cancer is placed in my 9th house signifying the father, how fitting to be at the family cabin that comes from his side of the family during this time to take a break from everything else in life. It was a nice break to remember the good memories, share them with my child and boyfriend, and have some bonding time with my dad.
I thought it would be nice as an intro to this ingress, to explain how deep and connected Cancer is within all of our lives, but also how it behaves as a river. Never stopping, always moving and changing, but supporting life within itself and all of the land it touches and erodes. A lot of astrology makes more sense in little stories, and can help us relate to it on a more human level. It isn’t every year that we have a revolution in astrology that uses all four solstice/equinox charts, but because the ascendant of the Aries Ingress was in Capricorn this year we have a new chart every few months. This will be a year where Cancer related themes are likely on our minds in a more intense way, and it will also be a good time to pay attention to the parts of our lives connected with Cancer to get an idea of what we need to pay attention to and work through.
The Cancer Ingress
The Aries and Cancer ingress are quite similar when comparing the ascendants and signs the houses are in. The main difference is the packed sixth house and the Moon and Venus residing in the fourth. I see the next few months becoming more actionable than the first few months since the Aries ingress. Most of the actions we have seen taken by the government will gain momentum, and it’s likely that we will hear a lot of reporting about legislation and courts. When looking at all of the charts for the Cancer Ingress, the one thing that really came to mind was the phrase “following an old playbook.” Reminiscent of the memory significations linked to the sign of cancer. Gaining this much momentum and following things that previously worked doesn’t always go as planned though. It would be like going down a river again after years, full speed ahead, but not planning for the new logs that fell into the water and changed its course over that time.
I could see not everyone in the government being on the same page moving forward, with a clash between what has worked before and what will work in the future. The interactions with Saturn and the sixth house stellium are interesting to ponder, considering Saturn and Jupiter share a mutual reception in these mutable signs. With the significators in this chart, it seems like the government will become even more overbearing on its people, but also have a lot of fighting between themselves and other countries. I could see the United States losing a lot of support from current allies over the next few months, but also the dynamics within and between the parties of the government becoming more unstable as well.
I believe this is the point where the government is going to try implementing new laws or regulations within bigger bills that are passed through the house and senate. It’s likely the fine print of broad bills, and likely fine print within budget plans. A lot of the next few months will focus on battles, both in war but also within the government. The sixth house being so full while also being connected to significations of other countries in this specific chart shows there will be a lot of back and fourth both inside and outside our country. There will be a focus on money and resources that are shared with our alliances, likely our own government needing or wanting more from others.
War will become a bigger theme, I’m sure you have all been seeing the conflicts arising on the news recently, with the eighth house Mars and it’s connections to the Moon and Venus in the fourth, I wouldn’t be shocked if our military began to go to Iran for a larger show of power from our government. Mars is being ruled by the Sun in the sixth house of battles which further solidifies this prediction. This Mars and its aspects also implies the deportations and detainments will pick up but we might not see as much about it in the media, along with protests against ICE not getting as much media traction. I think the government would rather people not know there are protests against its actions, and paint the picture as they usually do which is that they claim they are making the country safer through these mass detainments. The significations for war can be seen affecting the country both internally and externally.
The significations of the fourth house make me worried that wildfires will be worse this year and likely impact and burn farmlands. A lot of produce over the past few years has been negatively impacted by the smoke that blocks the sun, making yields and quality less than desirable. But the significations in this Cancer ingress lead me to believe that our food will be affected in a more direct way from both fires and droughts. It’s likely food prices may go up, but we may also not be able to find as much variety of good quality food towards the end of summer. All types of farms and ranches will take a hit, and so will our wallets. I could see farmers trying to get loans and grants from the government to cover costs and it being a harder battle for them to win, at the very least.
Sciences and higher education will continue to receive attacks against funding and grants, and both will likely wind up in legal battles with the administration that are publicized. When we think about following old playbooks, one of the first things authoritative governments do is attack education and sciences.
A lot of this chart goes back to the sixth house, which signifies battles, war, and also legal processes that happen through courts. This will affect many areas of the country from international relations, journalism, war, finances, and trade. Infrastructure within the United States is also likely to take a hit, possibly receive less funding and be a topic of debate within the government. This could be everything from ports, mail services, internet infrastructure, trains, and airports.
While this momentum is all building up and rushing forward during the summer, I could see it impacting all of our lives in similar fast paced ways. We may be facing smaller versions of the themes I talked about within our own lives. The workplace will be more chaotic, and connections with family and friends will be more wary than usual. There will be words of anger, lies, and possible manipulation that we do to others or others do to us. It might feel like floating down the river with no paddle, and struggling to keep your head afloat. Communication with friends and family will be hard, might feel like a battle, and might not go exactly where we want it to, but it’s worth it to try during times like these. We may feel a distance from those we were once close to, and I could also see a lot of us putting distance in these relationships while we try to manage our own lives.
With the Moon and Venus in Aries trine Mars, I could see our handle on emotions will generally have a shorter tolerance. We may feel more emotional at this time, but also may be more likely to push the blame elsewhere. We might be more easy to annoy or anger, and when everyone is feeling that kind of vibe it’s easy to get into fights and break off friendships or relationships. Our focus might not be as air tight as usual, and we may be distracted easily by things that take our mind off of the world around us.
This will be an emotional and frustrating summer with challenges, but going through these challenges will help us grow in new ways. Cancer is a river, and rivers give life. The water supports the life inside and all around it. This summer is a good time to look for ways to work through past holdups we may have against people in our lives, and focus on nurturing future relationships with family and friends that are mutually supportive and understanding.
I will be doing deep dives on each planet in the ingress in future posts over the next few weeks, so be sure to follow this substack if you were interested in how I delineated the chart. At the end of each of these posts I’ll also go over any predictions that happened already and show where they are signified in the chart, and possibly with the event chart as well to show how these events fall on the Cancer Ingress. I post a lot of my predictions that are correct on my bluesky account, so if you’re interested in seeing short prediction confirmations and examples be sure to follow me on there as well.
The emotions of this are so poignant and relevant haha amazing work as always 🖤
